Anti-Semitic incidents are down drastically in Miami-Dade County and have decreased across Florida for the second consecutive year, according to a report released Wednesday by the Anti-Defamation League. Reported incidents in Miami-Dade dropped from 54 in 2006 to 24 in 2007. There was a slight decrease in Broward County, from 28 to 24. Statewide, incidents dropped from 179 in 2006 to 127 in 2007, a 29 percent decrease. Nationwide, incidents were down 13 percent. ''We're pleased, but anti-Semitism still remains,'' said Andrew Rosenkranz, the ADL's regional director in Florida. ``Anti-Semitism and racism of any kind is intolerable, whether it's one incident or 200 incidents.'' Like last year, Florida ranked fourth in the nation in incidents, behind New York, New Jersey and California, which also have significant Jewish populations.
